What is Arginine?

Arginine refers to an important amino acid, which is also called L-arginine because of its L-structure. This substance plays a significant role in various metabolic processes of the body, and is effective for treating high blood pressure and heart problems. Some of the benefits that it can bring include enhancing the blood circulation, making wounds heal faster, improving the immune system, reducing weight, improving male libido and erection, regulating cholesterol levels, and burning of excess body fats.

The L-arginine amino acid is effective for improving blood circulation and the oxygen in the blood, because it can increase the levels of nitric oxide present in the body. Nitric oxide can make the walls of the blood vessels relax and can also increase the elasticity of arteries. With this, the amino acid can regulate blood pressure, as well as help transport nutrients and oxygen to the vital organs much faster.

As mentioned, arginine can help improve male erections. It works similarly with synthetic drugs, but is relatively more cost-effective and has no harmful side effects. Unlike potency pills, the effects of arginine do not show immediately and the substance works in the long run.

Aside from enhancing potency, this amino acid can also stimulate hair growth. Since the nitric oxide from arginine can open the cells’ potassium channels, the circulation to the roots of the hair will also be improved and will promote growth of new hair.

Other important benefits of arginine include the reduction of resistance to insulin and increasing tolerance to glucose. Additionally, supplements that contain this amino acid is also helpful for promoting sleep because it can detoxify ammonia. Ammonia refers to a toxin which can cause insomnia and interfere with other functions when it was able to reach the brain. Lastly, arginine also plays a role in bone growth because it aids in the production of collagen—a protein that is an essential component of bones and connective tissues.
